What got me into zoo's

I thought I would give a brief post about why I decided to do this. In my childhood I used to visit Flamingo Land most weekends as we had annual passes for there and that when my love of animals begun. Back when I used to go there they had polar bears, brown bear, lions, tigers, dolphins plus many more. I was lucky when I was a kid and got picked out of the audience to go on a ride in a boat with the dolphin pulling the boat. I had always wanted to work with animals since that boat trip. however as I got older I didn't like the blood and guts side of working with animals so didn't pursue a career with them but deep down I always wished I had tried. I then went on to do hairdressing for the majority of my life with taking jobs else where alongside it towards the end. Flamingo Land was the only zoo I had visited apart from Jersey Zoo when was on holiday when I was a kid, the day after the boy fell in the gorilla enclosure.

Fast forward to 2015 I ended up getting salmonella which changed my life. You see I have crohn's disease which when I caught salmonella it put me in a huge flare up. I had reactions to medication which made me loose my hair, put on loads of weight from being on steroids which also brought on arthritis in my spine and also damaged my liver, I could go on about the daily struggles with this but once you read my blogs you will see my struggles.

Its times like this when you are laying on the bathroom floor in floods of tears that make you think about your life and what you want to do with it. So me and the hubby decided to make a bucket list and most things that was on my list involved animals, ie be a keeper for a day, see animals in the wild, photograph as many different animals I can, and the reason for this blog, GO TO EVERY ZOO IN THE UK!!!!

There is 52 Zoo's in the UK from Highland wildlife park in the Highlands of Scotland to Dartmoor Zoo in Dartmoor. I also have a annual pass for Yorkshire Wildlife Park so I visit there regularly.
